I wore this outfit last week on the most beautiful January day. It started off fairly chilly but the sun warmed things up quickly by noon. It was one of those days where you look for excuses to spend time outside even when you're supposed to be working inside. ;)

I don't typically wear a lot of plaid, and while I maintain a classic wardrobe and look most days, sometimes I like to experiment outside of my norm. Case in point: this pink plaid flannel shirt. I received a gift card for Christmas and decided to go for something different and because it was super soft and felt like pajamas, well I just couldn't resist! Since it was a casual day where I was running errands all over town coupled with working on proposals for clients at home, comfort and a punch of girly color was my goal for this look.

These are one of my older more worn-in pairs of skinny jeans (they started off as this dark rinse a few years ago and Loft still offers this modern skinny style), I paired them with a pink leopard print skinny belt in a similar hue for some pattern play, a pearl bracelet and pearl stud earrings to add a touch more femininity along with booties in a lighter tone. I added my sand color leather Calvin Klein handbag that I've owned for several years and a black corduroy jacket for the early morning temps, along with a swipe of pink lip gloss and some curls which completed the look.

  2. Karla, I love this look! What a great casual weekend outfit, and although it has a country vibe, you've made it look so chic with the booties, pearls, curled hair, etc. It's still so feminine with the pink, I find it's rare to find a pretty pink plaid shirt (especially flannel), the spring choices you shared are perfect!

Also, I'm sure you hear this all the time, but you have such beautiful shiny and healthy blonde hair!! I'm in the process of trying to grow my dark blonde hair out and would love to hear what products you use, how often you wash it or conditioning treatments if any that you recommend that may help!! I remember some weeks back you had mentioned wanting to do some videos as one of your goals this year and wondered if you had considered maybe sharing some hair/skincare/beauty products and tips with your readers. I love reading your posts, but that might be even more fun than a written post. Just a thought...thank you!! Pat

    1. Hi Pat! Thank you so much for your compliment and for takign the time to leave a comment. :) It feels like an eternity when you're waiting for your hair to grow out, doesn't it? I've kept my hair long for several years, prior to that it was more mid-length when I got married (which I liked equally compared to long) and while I was in College I made the mistake of cutting it off quite short just below my chin after a breakup as I wanted change, so I understand. ;) As far as keeping it healthy, I like to cut my hair every 3 months to keep the ends soft and split-free and typically cut about 1.5-2 inches off since hair grows 1/2 inch per month. I do have a length that is just too long for me, and when it gets to that point, I get a significant trim. If you're trying to grow it, you might want to only cut half of an inch every 3 months and deep condition it often to keep the ends healthy. Also, I used to wash my hair every single day, sometimes twice per day when I would workout at the gym but that can really dry out your hair, so you could try to wash every other day. I have used an array of products over the years and I do have a few favorites now, but I keep my hair care routine pretty simplistic, I'm not into using a ton of products, I like my hair to stay as clean and chemical-free as possible. I love that you suggested sharing these details in a video! Funny enough it's something I've though about doing for a while, I just haven't made the time yet. Also, I want readers to get to know me better and I find putting a live voice with a name/blog helps do that (at least for the blogs that I read I have found that). So, stay tuned, I'll be sharing more details in an upcoming hair video! I hope to add some fashion and beauty videos as well. Have a wonderful week. Warmly, Karla
